Center Stage with Ashley Belote!
Shelves will host local author & illustrator Ashley Belote at 11:00am EST on Saturday, July 30th at The Gallery at Morning Star located at 12509 Idlewild Rd in Matthews, NC. This family-friendly event will include a live art demonstration by Ashley and a reading from her debut picture book Listen Up, Louella. This interactive event will also include coloring sheets for your kids to enjoy and take home with them as a keepsake.
You can RSVP for this event in 1 of 2 ways:
- Guests can purchase a copy of Listen Up, Louella from Shelves. Your book purchase will serve as your household’s event ticket and will ensure that you and your family are automatically added to the guest list. At checkout, please indicate the total number of children that will accompany you at the event. If you prefer to pick up your book(s) at the event, please select that option under [Shipping].

DONATE A BOOK! At checkout under [Shipping], you will also have the option to donate a copy of Listen Up, Louella to a family that would like to attend our event on Saturday, July 30th. If we are unable to find a family to gift the book(s) to, then we will deliver your donation to Promising Pages.
Meet the author
Ashley Belote is the illustrator of Frankenslime (Feiwel & Friends, 2021) and Valenslime (Feiwel & Friends, 2021). She is the author-illustrator of her solo debut early reader The Me Tree (Penguin Workshop, 2021) and her solo debut picture book Listen Up, Louella (Feiwel & Friends, 2022).
She studied traditional animation under the direction of Don Bluth. Ashley earned her BA from Alderson Broaddus University and her MA in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky. Her graduate study included a children’s literature and illustration course, The Whole Book Approach, through Simmons College at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. She also serves as the Illustrator Coordinator for the Carolinas chapter of SCBWI. Ashley is represented by Moe Ferrara of BookEnds Literary Agency.
