Are you a Christian author that writes fiction or nonfiction books? Do you operate a publishing company that publishes books written by Christians? If you fit either of these categories, then you should RSVP here for Shelves Bookstore’s informational meeting scheduled for Sunday, October 20th at 6:00pm EDT where you will learn more about our indie bookstore’s one of a kind Reading Is a Lifestyle monthly book subscription with a focus on how Shelves hopes to support and spotlight books written by Christian authors.
How does Shelves Bookstore define a Christian author?
We believe that a Christian is a person who believes that Jesus Christ is the beloved Son of the living God (Matthew 16:13-20). The Messiah for mankind whose crucifixion and resurrection redeems the sins, iniquities, trespasses, and transgressions of those who believe in their hearts and confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord & Savior of their lives (Acts 3:18-26). A Christian author is a disciple of Jesus Christ who writes books.
Does a Christian author have to believe in the Holy Bible?
Yes, they do. Someone who identifies as a Christian author must believe that the Holy Bible is the infallible word of God and relies on this faith-based text alone for guidance on how to live righteously (Galatians 1:8). We don’t believe in any lost books of the Bible but we highly recommend reading the found ones.
What about Christian authors who are filled with the Holy Spirit?
Being baptized with the Holy Spirit is a good thing! All Christians should believe in the Holy Spirit and rely on Him to guide them into all truth. The Bible tells us that He is our promised Helper sent by the LORD our God who enables disciples of Jesus Christ to bear the fruit of the Spirit and to operate in supernatural power & authority on earth that brings glory & honor to God Almighty in heaven (John 14:15-18).
Should a Christian author love God above all else?
Absolutely! Jesus told us that the two greatest commandments are to love the LORD our God with all our heart, mind, and soul and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40). We stand for Christ regardless of what’s trending in culture and love will never justify compromising the word of God to obtain favor with men. A true Christian understands the importance of never dimming their light even if their the only lamp in a room full of darkness (Matthew 5:16) because we know that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
